Class 2/10
Today in class we learned about European architecture. We looked at pictures of the Notre Dame and watched a video about the construction that's still happening on the Basílica de la Sagrada Família.

Class 2/3
Today in class, we learned about Dr. Raul Cuero and his views on creativity. As a class we discussed our views and what we agreed and disagreed on. We also learned about Native American spiritual dances and Ancient Roman entertainment.
Dr. Raul Cuero
Dr. Raul Cuero is a scientist who overcame racial, ethnic, geographic and social obstacles to become extremely successful. In an interview, he discusses his views on creativity and the American education system. When asked if kids these days are at a creative disadvantage because of all the technology they are surrounded by, Cuero explained that he believes kids spend too much time indoors and alone and that they lack intensity when approaching projects. He says that creativity comes from spending time in nature, communicating with others and having playtime. Later in the interview, he talks about the American education system and says he believes that there is a lack of parental presence these days and it's affecting children's education.
I agree with some of these beliefs and disagree with others. I think that for some people it's true that nature breeds creativity, but not for everyone. I do agree that collaboration and communication foster creativity because that's when the exchange of ideas and combination of talents happen. In the interview, it is implied that kids cannot be creative on computers but I think this view is outdated. These days, computers are full of tools for creativity. Coding, graphic design, video editing, animation, and music production are just a few things that anyone with a laptop can do from anywhere. If anything, computers are allowing kids to be more creative because they have endless tools at their fingertips.

Profile
Hi! My name is Lily Wiggle. I'm a sophomore here at UT, studying New Media Production and Marketing. I'm originally from Buffalo, New York, but I've been going back and forth from Buffalo to Jupiter, Florida for the past eight years. I currently have a media production job with a financial firm based out of Buffalo. During breaks, I work there full-time but during the semester I work from my dorm, part-time. I do a little bit of graphic design for them but I mostly edit videos and audio projects, like their podcast and radio show. When I'm not in class or working, I'm arranging music and running rehearsals for Scarlette Fever, UT's newest treble-voiced a cappella group.
I'm very excited about this class. All of the topics this class covers are topics I'm interested in and have at least a little experience in, so I can't wait to learn more about them.
This picture is blurry and ridiculous but I think it is a very accurate representation of who I am. The girls behind me are the members of my a cappella group, Scarlette Fever, and in this picture, we are on our way to our first performance as a group. I was extremely excited, which is clearly shown on my face, too excited, in fact, to hold my camera steady. As the president and one of the founding members of the group, I had to put in a lot of time and energy to get us to this exact moment caught on camera, so this picture means a lot to me.
